Join us to celebrate Women - Champions of Peacebuilding
The Next Chapter project has invited all Chapter participants to join co-participants from across NI and the border counties of the Republic of Ireland at the REPRESENT Women’s Ambassador Forum on Friday 10 May, 10.00am – 3.00pm.
The theme for the day is “Women - Champions of Peace Building – The Past and the Future” to celebrate the signing of the Good Friday/Belfast Agreement just over 21 years ago.
The Women’s Ambassador Forum will be opened by Heather Humphreys TD, Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation.
In the morning the first panel of speakers - Jane Morrice, Liz O’Donnell and Bronagh Hinds - will talk about their roles in the peace negotiations and the roles of women in this in general.
The afternoon will focus on the future and participants from The Next Chapter will talk about the continued need for peace building and, promoting good relations between people of all ages and backgrounds. The focus will be on women’s roles in this and the associated need for gender equality in community, public and political life. These needs are what The Next Chapter project is funded for by the EU PEACE IV programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). Match-funding for the project has also been provided by the Department of Rural and Community Development in Ireland and the Executive Office in Northern Ireland.
Free transportation will be provided for all Chapter members.
Please contact your Regional Coordinator if you have not received your invitation by email today.
