Autumn plans for Next Chapter participants

A date for your diary - Join us for a trip to the Dáil in September says Mirjam

Next Chapter Project Manager Mirjam Bader reveals what is in store for all Chapter members after the summer

"Following agreement by our funders, the Special EU Programmes Body, I am excited to announce that The Next Chapter project has been extended to March 2020 and will also now involve additional Chapter meetings, coaching sessions and a new training module.

The feedback from those who took up the offer of coaching support has been very positive and many participants have asked for additional sessions. We are now able to offer each person one or two additional sessions based on need. Please have a chat with your coach to make arrangements for this. We have also agreed with the organisation delivering your coaching service, CO3, that sessions can be held over the summer break where the coach is available. All sessions should be completed by the end of December. For those participants involved in training who haven’t yet taken up the offer of coaching, three sessions may be available. Please speak to your Regional Co-ordinator for more information, including timescales involved.

We are also currently inviting quotes from organisations to deliver an additional Module 5 training element with the working title of ‘Race and Minority Ethnic Equal Opportunities and Good Relations’ training. This training is due to be delivered in three sessions in each Chapter area over September, October, November and January. You can read more about this in this newsletter.

I am delighted to announce that all Next Chapter project participants are invited to visit to the Dáil on Wednesday 18 September. This event will include the opportunity to meet with other Chapter members as well as members of the Irish Parliamentary Women’s Caucus for discussions and networking.

In addition, a number of other smaller events involving members from different Chapters meeting up is planned between September, October and November and your Regional Co-ordinator will provide further details at your first Chapter meeting in September.

Finally, the next challenge for your Chapter is to learn to how to develop a vodcast. For those not in the know (like me!), a vodcast is an inexpensive short, digital video, filmed on a mobile or tablet, which can be published online as part of a website or social media account. Your Regional Co-ordinator, supported by our Communications Co-ordinator, will assist your Chapter to make a vodcast in the autumn and this will then be shown at a Celebration Event in March next year.

That is all for now. I hope you have a lovely summer."
