Next Chapter women meet Mayor of Hope

Mayor of Derry City & Strabane District Council joins Next Chapter participants for 'An Audience with Bronagh Hinds'

The Next Chapter PEACE IV project hosted ‘An Audience with Bronagh Hinds’ Compered by Eve Blair at The Guildhall, Derry~Londonderry, on Monday 10 February. This inspirational event featured Bronagh Hinds, co-founder of the NI Women’s Coalition and UN senior expert of women’s engagement in peace processes, in conversation with BBC Radio Ulster Journalist Eve Blair. The event also included a screening of ‘Wave Goodbye to Dinosaurs’ followed by a question and answer session and discussion with the audience.

Particpants from the Foyle Chapter introduced the speakers throughout the evening. They were joined by Marie Dunne from Resilio, who spoke about the recent 'Caring for Carers' community project delivered by the Foyle Chapter where she delivered a talk on Mental Health Wellbeing and the concept of HOPE (see previous coverage here).

At the end of the evening Councillor Michaela Boyle, Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, delivered closing remarks and thanked The Next Chapter for their inspirational events and announced her new vision for Derry becoming a 'City of Hope'.

The Next Chapter aims to improve the representation of women in community, public and political life and contribute to a more gender sensitive society in Northern Ireland and the border regions of the republic of Ireland. Powered by Politics Plus in conjunction with Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA) and Irish Rural Link, The Next Chapter is funded through the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). Match-funding for the project has also been provided by the Department of Rural and Community Development in Ireland and the Executive Office in Northern Ireland.
